Annual Periodisation Training Programme
An annual periodisation training programme was
designed prior to the start of the athletic year in order for the athlete to visualise his
yearly training plan. The Annual periodisation training programme also allows
the athlete to have a structured plan and schedule to adhere to. Enabling the
athlete to know exactly when each assessment will take place, each rugby match
and when each season begins and ends. Not only does the annual training programme permit
structure to an athlete’s training schedule, but also provides the athlete with
specific targets and aims, allowing the athlete to prepare mentally for the
year ahead.
